Why Use ILG?
Internet Online Opportunity
Be Part of a Winning Story!
by JC Dawkins
I just returned from a training meeting in Indianapolis, IN for ILG held on January 30, 2010. I hope some of you were able to watch the live-streaming event.
I don’t know where to begin on recapping all my takeaways from this meeting. I’ll start with some of my notes from the beginning.
Eric Allen sponsored this training event for his ILG team and guests that featured the President, Boyd Matheson, and several faculty members and top marketers.
ILG is the world’s premier online training portal that allows people to participate in a daily training and transformation process by listening to 7 to 10 minute recordings by the world’s leading personal development speakers. So, with ILG, you can access training from the world’s best for a fraction of the cost.
The concept behind ILG was conceived toward the end of 2007. Then the company pre-launched in November of 2008 and launched in March 2009.
Here is a brief summary of some of the presentations:
I. Boyd Matheson
Boyd’s presentation focused on how the world is returning to entrepreneurial values. He said that we will experience an entrepreneurial explosion in 2010. So, we all need to start thinking and acting more like an entrepreneur every day…even those people with corporate jobs.
He also sited the fact that a school degree only gives you about an 18-month head start over the competition these days. After that, you have to continue to learn to maintain an edge.
To act like an entrepreneur, you must have:
1. The right strategy
2. The right knowledge and training
3. The right support system
II. Ron Finklestein
Ron spoke about the 1° Difference. He said that we should change our thinking one degree every week for a year by suspending judgments and beliefs and listening with a beginners mind. A catalyst for changing your thinking is ILG.
III. Mike Thomson
Dr. Mike then spoke about the importance of training our brain to think differently. Even in a tough economy, no one can take away your thinking skills. So, why not keep them sharp?
IV. Roger Brummett
Roger then spoke about a concept called “intersections”. He defined them as moments where we interact with another person or persons. We are the sum total of intersections with people in our past. When we meet a person, we should ask “Why is this person standing in my intersection at this time?” Always pay attention to who’s standing in your intersection.
These intersections can lead to seminal moments when a dream connects with opportunity, like when Susan Boyle was discovered on Britain’s Got Talent, as she stood in the intersection with those three judges and the audience.
V. Scott McKain
I think I enjoyed Scott’s presentation the best. He spoke about how creating distinction between you and your competition is where the future of business lies. Status quo or duplication will get us very little.
He said the 4 cornerstones of distinction were:
1. Clarity
2. Creativity
3. Communication
4. Customer Experience
The average attention span is 6 seconds. So, it’s important to describe your message in a powerfully, compelling manner, because mindshare precedes market share.
He said what customers really want is:
1. Compelling Experience
2. Reciprocal Loyalty
3. Differentiation
4. Coordination
5. Innovation
6. Personal Focus
Customers expect to get what they paid for. So, you not only have to give them what they paid for, but also give them a compelling experience that differentiates you from the pack.
Good stuff! I’ll be reading his book, the ” Collapse of Distinction.”
It’s such a great feeling knowing we are positively impacting other people’s lives.
