Personal Growth and Development
Last week’s topic was New Year’s resolutions and how most people have dropped those resolutions by the time that newsletter was published –
January 15, 2010! This week, let’s delve into goals and how to make them work.
Goals
I read an article by Joan Marie Whelan entitled, “Are Your Goals Accompanied With A consistent Labor of Love?” That article made some interesting points.
Joan urged people to ask:
1. What is it that I really want in life?
2. How am I going to acquire these wants?
3. How much passion am I going to put behind my goals?
4. What steps do I need to take in order to achieve these goals?
5. How much time am I willing to take to get the things I want?

My main takeaway from this article is that most of us are mentally, physically and emotionally capable of achieving our desires. We just get easily detoured by indecision and inaction. You need to “determine the necessary actions and efforts to keep your life on track.” Ask yourself, “What sacrifices am I willing to make to create forward motion?”
