Become a social media manager. Social media is booming! You probably have your own Facebook profile, along with hundreds of millions of other Facebook users.
If you are very social and enjoy social media, you might enjoy being a social media manager or, as some people prefer, social marketing consultant.
As a social marketing consultant, you’ll get paid to manage the social media presence of small businesses. Small businesses need you. They want new customers and new business, but they don’t know how to effectively market their businesses online.
For you, if you enjoy social media, it’s like getting paid to play on Facebook and Twitter…if you do it right.
Local businesses are jumping into social media marketing because it is a cost-effective way of getting started in online marketing.
Now, I’ll share some information with you from a course by Kate Buck, “Let’s Get Social,” where she covers how she built a $10k a month business as a social marketing consultant.
What can you expect to earn?
If you are new to social media marketing and online marketing, you should be able to charge between $20 and $25 a hour. If you are experienced in online marketing, your rate will be between $45 to $65 an hour, or more. That means you could earn from $100 to $400 a week for as little as 1 hour a day.
Here are 6 Secrets to Success as a Social Media Manager or Consultant
- 1. It is important that you create your brand by setting up your social profiles and website.
2. You will need to decide whether your brand will be personal (e.g., JCDawkins.com) or a product (e.g. Profit-Blog.com).
3. You will need the following components for your branding:
- A business name and/or tagline
- A website or blog
- A great, photo
- A great biography
4. Be sure research your domain name. There should be some consistency between the names you use on the different social media. You can use Namechk.com to save time in checking the availability of user names at dozens of popular social networking and bookmarking sites.
5. It is imperative that you have a social media marketing strategy. It is your plan of attack for achieving your business goals. Plus, you should have a daily checklist to follow. I recommend that you take Kate Buck’s course, “Let’s Get Social“. She will cover everything with you. This will include topics and services like which services to offer, what to charge, how you can build your brand, finding clients, the contract, and marketing tricks.
6. One very important thing to remember before signing the contract is making sure you get into their network to assess how much clean up is really needed, and agree on clear measurable goals.
