This Week’s Social Media News

Social Media News for Online Marketing Success”

Social Media News

An article entitled, “3 Steps to Determine if Social Local Mobile Is Right for Your Business,” discussed the new buzzword, SoLoMo, and how you can use these tools to get new customers. SoLoMo is a new category of tools many businesses use that combine social, local and mobile marketing. Each serves a different function. The social marketing allows interaction with businesses. Local or location-based marketing allows businesses to target people in a specific location. Mobile marketing allows you to use these tools on your smartphone.

To get started with SoLoMo, you need to:

1. Determine if it’s right for your business.
2. Register with location-based services (i.e., Yelp).
3. Develop promotions for your target market that create a sense of urgency.

SoLoMo isn’t for every business. It works well for businesses that need local traffic, like bookstores, restaurants and hardware stores.

If this strategy is right for your business, be sure to offer a call to action and provide clear instructions for opting-in.
